MORNING SESSION:

Diagnostic Strategies
This course provides training in OBD-II system diagnostics using common test equipment, covering essential first steps, scan tool techniques and fuel system analysis.

Topics covered include:

  • OBD-II systems-based repairs using common test equipment

  • Diagnostic first steps

  • Scan tool diagnostics, fuel systems, common tests and useful testers

  • Converting Mode 6 data for diagnostics

  • Interpreting Mode 6 data and using Mode 6 test results

  • Tips and techniques centered on common problems, typical systems and predictable pattern failures

Upping Your Diagnostic Skills
This course equips automotive professionals with the skills to diagnose and troubleshoot driveability issues efficiently, even when no diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) are present.

Topics covered include:

  • Building a “Game Plan”

  • DTCs and no code driveability

  • Sharpen your diagnostic skills

  • Using PCM strategies and enabling criteria

  • Use of meters, lab scopes and other diagnostic tools and equipment

  • Batteries, including coding and reprogramming, parasitic draw and voltage drop

  • Relative compression, gas analysis, fuel flow testing, fuel trim and current ramping testing

  • PCM testing, pressure transducer, reprogramming

Driving Down the Rabbit Hole
This course streamlines the diagnostic process with a structured eight-step sequence, helping technicians quickly establish an accurate approach from the initial test drive for efficient troubleshooting.

  • Different types of CKP and CMP sensors

  • Related diagnostic trouble codes

  • How the computer uses these sensors as inputs

  • Testing techniques with DSO
